The United Way of Grinnell partners with organizations that are committed to providing a better quality of life for our community. We prioritize funding for organizations that focus on improving education (E), health (H),  and financial security (F). 


Davis 4th grade y-camp (E, F)

The Davis Y-Camp Outdoor Education experience provides a 3 day, 2 night education program for all 4th grade students in the Grinnell-Newburg School District. This opportunity to explore nature and connect with the Earth can’t be created in a classroom.


Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa (E, H)

Girl Scouts empowers K-12 girls as they develop confidence, connect with others, and apply leadership skills. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience supports girls in reaching their full potential.


Grinnell Community Early Learning Center  (E, H, F)

Grinnell Community Early Learning Center is a preschool and childcare center serving kids 6 weeks of age to 4th grade. They provide a safe, supportive and educational environment for the healthy development of each child.


Grinnell Education Partnership (E)

The GEP consists of three pillars supporting youth educational programs in Grinnell. Grinnell College provides the primary infrastructure, the Greater Poweshiek Community Foundation secures funding, and the community organizations provide programming.


Grinnell Ministerial Association (F)

Provides for lodging, food, gas, and other needs for people in Grinnell.

LINK Grinnell (E, F)

LINK Grinnell supports the long-term and ongoing efforts for childcare and youth development in the Grinnell Community by offering after-school and summer programming, and one to one mentoring (formerly offered by Big Brothers Big Sisters in Grinnell).


Local foods connection (E, H, F)

Increases opportunities to enjoy free, healthy food, connect with local farmers, and expand skills and knowledge of cooking and nutrition.


Mid-Iowa Community Action (E, H, F)

Mid-Iowa Community Action, Inc. (MICA) is a private, nonprofit organization serving children and families in central Iowa affected by the conditions of poverty. MICA provides Head Start Preschool, health, family development and housing services as well as community enrichment programs.


Poweshiek county dental coalition (H, F)

Through free dental clinic days, a voucher program, and social support we increase access to local dental care for under-served children in the community. PCDC also helps families get dental care for their children out of town when necessary.


Poweshiek County Extension and outreach (E)

Empowers youth to reach their full potential while experiencing the joy of learning in a supportive, creative, challenging and fun environment.


Read 2 lead (E)

Read 2 Lead is an early literacy focused 501(c)3 located in Poweshiek County, Iowa that brings Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to EVERY child in Grinnell (& other Poweshiek County communities) between the ages of newborn to 5 years old! In addition, R2L unites the community around early childhood literacy through their other programs including Raising-A-Reader, Books for MICA and Kindergarten Kickoff.
